We know how important it is to be completely confident in your home design before committing to the construction build process. To ensure you know exactly what you want before construction takes place, our designer will present you with a comprehensive design plan and 3D rendering with every architectural and interior detail taken into account. From colours, to functionality, furniture and beyond, our design plan includes it all: demolition plans, new floor plans, electrical plans, millwork layouts, detailed cabinetry elevations and much more. When we say we’re detailed, we’re not kidding.

We’re passionate about making your vision a reality through a design that speaks to you and your lifestyle. Through this exploration period we will modify the plan until it is 100% perfect for you! With close attention to detail every step of the way, our process is fueled by collaboration and merging your taste with our expertise.

The design process

Part of what makes us stand out from other Calgary architectural and interior design companies is the level of detail we put into our planning process. Planning out your dream home is a big undertaking, and we want you to know we leave no stone unturned. We follow these 8 simple steps to deliver a home design that exceeds your expectations.

  1. Initial Consultation – Discuss your wishlist, needs and budget
  2. Design Proposal – You’ll receive an estimate on your design package and scope of work.
  3. Meeting #1 – We begin the discovery phase of what you want your home to look like, feature and how you want it to function. If a renovation, we will measure your existing home.
  4. Meeting #2 – We’ll review the first draft of your home with you, including the new floor plans, millwork and space planning.
  5. Meeting #3 – Let’s get together to review the changes in your home plans and 3D renderings.
  6. Client Sign-off – When you’re completely satisfied with the drawings and all of your requested changes have been taken into account, you will sign off on the final design of your home, including layouts and elevations.
  7. Working/Construction Drawings – Final drawings used for construction are completed, and you will have the opportunity to review these drawings and make any final changes.
  8. Interior Selections – You’ll make interior and exterior selections, finalizing all of your finishes with our designer!

Meet the designer

Phil Mateshaytis, Design Manager

Phil brings over twenty years of design experience to The Home Design Company working directly on some of Calgary’s most prestigious homes. Phil has an Architectural Technician certificate from SAIT and an Interior Design degree from Mount Royal University. Over his career he has worked with many of the best builders and renovators in Calgary which has resulted in numerous awards and nominations for design. Using a 3D Design software, Phil is able to give our clients a unique and detailed vision of their home project. With his amazing attention to detail, Phil has the ability to translate your ideas onto paper and ultimately your finished project – bringing the “wow!” factor to your home.
